Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"This place is a true hidden gem in the Medina of Tunis. Set in a beautifully restored caravanserai, it combines history, charm, and refined Tunisian cuisine. The dishes are authentic yet elegant — especially the couscous and fish— and the atmosphere is serene, with traditional décor and soft Andalusian music. A perfect spot for an unforgettable local dining experience. The waiters are too nice."
"While wandering through the Medina, I accidentally stumbled upon this restaurant. Even from a distance, it looked like something special, so I knew I had to try it. The traditional ambiance and charm of the place are truly unique. The food was outstanding: I started with the delicious traditional fish soup (soup of the day), followed by a wonderful pasta dish with slow-cooked lamb and fresh vegetables. To finish, I enjoyed a traditional mint tea and a classic cream dessert. The atmosphere was calm, professional, and authentic. If you are looking for a place with character and excellent taste, this is it. It was a perfect, quiet escape from the busy streets. Highly recommended"
"First things first, BEST BREAD I've ever had, like wow we need the recipe. Now that we got that out of the way, the main dishes that we got were the fish with couscous and the Tunisian traditional dish kybkabou. Those were average, but still good. The restaurant is located inside the Medina and it's like you're stepping into another world once you enter. It's a very well lit garden, very nicely decorated. Of course it's touristic, but it's a great choice for clean lunch while exploring the Mdina. Prices are on the pricier side for Tunisian standards, as the main dish is around 13€ but it's okay. Card payment is also possible. Alcohol isn't served here."
"Atmosphere is nice. It's right in the market, the location is closed in and warm. Bathrooms are clean and plenty of seats to sit in, along with traditional music to listen to. The food is also really good. It's the best couscous I've eaten, and the veggies were steamed well, soft, and flavored. We loved the food. The staff is oddly uppity it seemed to me. Trying to give the vibe of an upscale restaurant, but with that comes the oddity of not checking often, being quick like they're in a hurry, and the dress code. I just want someone to check in on me when needed, and explain the menu."
"Its a nice and renovated place. It has alot of light because of the roof, tough they added a glass roofing to stay dry even when it rains. Its a nice but busy place to go for eating as it is a bit famous. Would still recommend going there and taking the daily menu for a good deal."
"We had very good lunch there. I took a three courses menu. Portions were big. Food was delicious."
"Amazing traditional style restaurant, had the chef salad and both chicken & beef couscous which were delicious."
"One of the top restaurants in Tunisia, the food is absolutely the best, service is amazing, the staff are all very friendly and polite, the vibes are definitely Tunisia with the music played over gives you all you need to feel the Tunisian spirit. Portions of the meals are generous, must try the couscous and the chef's salad"
